The text was read at the time an oath Pemoeda Pemoeda Congress held in
Waltervreden (now Jakarta) on 27 – October 28, 1928 1928.

COMMENT : 

THE APLICATION OF SUMPAH PEMUDA TODAY :

Sumpah Pemuda is one important milestone for the Indonesian nation. As we know, there are three important points Sumpah Pemuda, which landed one water, one nation and one language. These three things are important factors for our country. How the spirit of youth first? How did the reality of today’s youth?

As the name implies, the Sumpah Pemuda was formulated by the youth. They then make it as a basis for generating a sense of nationalism. The youth no longer fend for themselves, but together.

We need to know, sumpah Pemuda was not born just like that. Much of what underlies the youth is determined to unite. They do not think it will be able to make Indonesia’s independence if the fighting in their own group.

Failure in the fight for Indonesian independence to make them aware that the sense of nationalism must be integrated. Therefore, the Youth Congress was held I and II. They become one, a “Youth of Indonesia.”

Contrary Rear

The spirit of unity of the youth had to be followed today’s youth. Namely, with the independence. Although I was still in elementary school, I was still young nation and future generations the ideals of the youth first.

However, sometimes we made sad by the fact of Indonesian youth today. The spirit of the independence they are very small, sometimes even destructive. Just because a little misunderstanding, the youth can now brawl. Brawl antarpemuda not know the location and level of maturity. Rural youth with a troubled young man the other village. There is also a brawl between schools and inter. They destroy the spirit of Sumpah Pemuda.

The problem some youth of today, not only unbridled emotion. They are also mentally selfish and preoccupied with themselves without care about the environment. They plunged themselves into a drug, rah-rah, and debauchery.

In my opinion, today’s youth are too complacent with the existing simplicity. As a result, they fall into negative things. Instead, they use the facilities to improve the quality of self-own.

Not All

Fortunately, not all of today’s youth like them, who destroy themselves and their nation. There are still many future generation who still care about the environment and uphold the spirit of Sumpah Pemuda.

There are many contemporary Indonesian youths who excel in education, sports, technology, peace, and others. For example, Maria Kristin is it the name the nation through sport badminton.

So, the fact is there are young people today are forgetting the spirit of Sumpah Pemuda. Some are still holding firm. Who remained faithful to us support and mencontohnya. Meanwhile, those who forget, we remind you to return to the spirit of the youth first.
